"D" Semi-final Games
The first set of semi-final games were for the D playoffs: Mount Forest Rams versus Huron-Bruce Blizzard and the Georgian Shores Lightning versus Schomberg Red Wings.
The first semi-final game saw the Rams square off against the Blizzard. The Rams opened the scoring with a goal just a few minutes into the game and followed with another to take a 2-0 lead. The Blizzard replied in the second period with 2 goals of their own to tie the game 2-2 after 2. The teams traded chances in the third period but the goalies were up to the challenge and the teams were bound for overtime. The first 4 on 4 overtime solved nothing and neither did the second 3 on 3 overtime so on to a shootout they went. There was only one goal scored in the 3 shooter per side shoot out with the Rams emerging victorious and advancing to the D Championship at 6:40 pm.
The second semi-final was between the Lightning and the Red Wings. The Lightning scored the lone goal of the first period towards the end of the period. The Red Wings got on the board with their own goal midway through the second period but the Lightning restored their lead just a couple minutes later. The Lightning built on their lead by adding another goal a third of a way into the 3rd period to go up 3-1. The Red Wings kept pressing and cut the deficit to just a goal. The Lightning restored their 2 goal lead which stood up with the final score being 4-2 in their favour as the Lightning advanced to the D Championship game.
