Sunday started with the two B semi-final games: Thamesford Attack versus Parry Sound Shamrocks and Mid-Huron Huskies 2 versus Mid-Huron Huskies 1.
The Attack versus the Shamrocks opened the day's games. The first period saw the Attack jump out to an early lead with 2 goals within a minute at the midpoint of the period followed by another one just before the period ended to establish a 3-0 lead. The Shamrocks chipped away at the Attack's lead with the only goal in the second period. Trailing 3-1 going into the third period, the Shamrocks got an early goal to make it interesting. By about the midpoint of the 3rd, the Shamrocks had scored another goal to tie the game at 3-3. The teams then went into a 4 on 4 three minute overtime in which neither team scored. About a minute into the second 3 on 3 overtime, the Shamrocks scored to secure the win and advance to the B Championship.
The second semi-final was between the two host teams: Huskies vs Huskies (team 1 versus team 2). This was a tight, clean game from start to finish. The Huskies 1 team scored with just a few minutes to go in the first period to take the lead. Play went back and forth through the second and most of the third periods without any more goals being scored. As time wound down in the third, the Huskies 2 team pressed hard for the equalizer but, with just a few minutes to go, it was Huskies 1 who scored to go up 2-0. Huskies 1 then added another goal in the final minute to clinch the win: 3-0.
The B Championship game is at 3:30pm at the Seaforth arena later today.
