B Championship: Minto Mad Dogs vs. Ingersoll Express
The B Championship final game was between the Minto Mad Dogs and the Ingersoll Express.
The Express opened the scoring midway through the first period. They then followed that up with a second goal a few minutes later to jump out to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.
Although both teams had chances throughout the 15 minute second period, the goalies stood tall. The Mad Dogs did get a goal near the end of the period to cut the Express lead to 2-1.
The third period saw the Express get a goal in the first minute of the period and then another goal a few minutes later to stretch their lead to 4-1. In response, the Mad Dogs took their time out to regroup. With less than 3 minutes to go in the game the Mad Dogs took a penalty which looked like had ended their chances of a comeback. However, the Mad Dogs were able to score a shorthanded goal and then an even strength goal with 26 seconds left to cut the Express lead to 4-3. That was as close as the Mad Dogs would get though, as the Express went on to secure the B Championship. Congratulations to both teams on a well-played game.
