General Information, Doug Perkes Memorial U13 LL Tournament, 2022-2023 (Mid-Huron Minor Hockey Association)

PrintGeneral Information

The Doug Perkes Memorial Local League Tournament was established in 2010 in memory of Doug Perkes, who passed away June 2009. Doug was an avid sports person who felt the best way to stop good kids from making bad choices was to involve them in team sports. In his memory, a fund was established to financially aid local youths who otherwise would not be able to play hockey and other minor sports and the fund has provided financial assistance to young players each year since its establishment. The proceeds from this annual hockey tournament augment this fund continuing the assistance to young players in need.

Over the past 14 years, the tournament has grown from an initial 6 team format over a day and half in 2010 to where it's now an extremely popular 16 team, three day tournament. Although the tournament has expanded, its goal of focusing on providing a fun and an enjoyable experience for all the participating teams has continued. Teams are always encouraged to apply early as 16 teams is the maximum that the tournament can handle and, unfortunately, teams that wait too long can't be accommodated.

This season's tournament (Feb. 10-12, 2023) continues the minimum game guarantee of 4 games per team. The tournament registration fee is $1,000 and there are no gate fees. Teams may also be interested in knowing that a meal ticket will be issued to every player and bench staff member for a lunch to be provided either on Friday or Saturday, depending on each team’s schedule.

We look forward to you joining us at the 2023 Perkes Tournament.
